Biography
Tony Bond is a Christchurch based artist who has exhibited throughout New Zealand and overseas since the early 1990’s.

Solo exhibitions include ‘Nudge’ at The National in 2012, ‘Squeeze’ at The Christchurch Art Gallery in 2004 - 2005 and ‘Push’ at the Centre of Contemporary Art, Christchurch in 2001. He has shown in numerous selected group exhibitions, including Headland Sculpture on the Gulf in 2009 and 2007, The New Alchemists in 2004 and was one of three New Zealand artists selected to exhibit in the Taiwan International Ceramics Biennale in 2010.

His work is in various public and private collections including Te Papa, The Christchurch Art Gallery, The Auckland Museum, Canterbury University, The New Zealand Embassy in the Cook Islands, the Wallace Collection, the Christchurch and Wanganui Polytechnics.

Bond’s art practice has involved the use of a wide variety of materials and processes. His sculptural works in both ceramics and ‘recycled materials’ have brought him several awards, including The National Award for Artworks in Reclaimed Materials in 2004, the Portage Ceramic Award in 2000 and Cleveland Art Award in 1998 and1997.
