Description
Flags from the troopship Opawa, no. 73, which carried NZ Mounted Rifle Brigade Reinforcements and the 12th Reinforcements Maaori Contingent from Wellington to London in 1917. The flags were later obtained by the retired servicemen who travelled on the ship and were displayed at the Opawa Association reunions until the group closed in 1972.
Swallow tail (burgee) flag with central tongue, vertical arm of cross on hoist side of mid line. Rope threaded through hoist side.
