Ostrich egg scrimshaw depicting seven sailing vessels of the Dutch East Indies Co.: "Mars", "Ant Conrardina", "Botlandt", "Groenendael", "Comp Welvaren" and "D Dankbaarhey" (depicted twice).
Following inscription on base:
"T.behoude vaare van het schip de Dankbaarheyt" "R.V.O.C"
[Translation: "The Safe Sailing of the Ship the Dankbaarheyt (the Gratitude)
R.V.O.C = R.Verimode Oostindische Compagnie United East Indies Co]
