Description
Stoneware jar, Frankton Non-Alcoholic Brewery Company, aerated water and cordial manufacturer. The vessel is coloured in a natural stone cream and mustard colour glaze.

This jar appears to be Fowler Ware. Fowler’s pottery was established in 1837 in Australia, goods were made from local raw materials.

The brewery company does not appear to be documented in historical records. It may have been the Frankton aerated water business owned by Samuel Cooper Wright, trading as Wilson and Hendey, which went into bankruptcy in 1912. Jars were sold as part of the liquidation.

There were many cordial and alcohol manufacturers that traded in Waikato/Hamilton, successfully or otherwise, often using water from the region’s natural springs. C. L. Innes being a particularly successful example.
