Black cotton reel with white thread.

This cotton reel belonged to Bobbee Henry. Bobbee was a Hamilton dancer who was selected from 500 applicants to attend Sadler’s Wells School of Ballet (in London), in 1953. In later life Bobbee adjudicated for Ballet, Highland, and Tap dancing in New Zealand.

Bobbee kept this reel stored in a custom-made theatre box which is also now in the collection of Waikato Museum Te Whare Taonga o Waikato.
