Black beaded collar

Description
Handsewn black beaded collar sewn on to black satin and lace. It belonged to Helen Bell, Hamilton benefactor and supporter of the arts, in the early 20th century. Helen Bell purchased the old Savings Bank Building at the top of Victoria Street in 1941 and gifted it to the city as a museum and art gallery. Waikato Museum was later built on this site. Helen Bell was married to Allen Bell, a politician, of Hamilton.
