This protest/social justice badge belonged to, and was worn by, Hamilton activist Catherine Lang. Badge which reads 'Education Cuts Don't Heal, Education Fight Back'.
Education funding cuts in New Zealand in the late 1970s and early 1980s were a result of worsening economic conditions. The first protest campaign in 1979 was called 'Education Fight Back' with the slogan 'Education Cuts Don't Heal' which was used for many years afterwards.
