Description
Belgian Sea Service Flintlock pistol, .68 inch / 14 bore calibre. No ramrod recess. Brass mounted walnut fullstock with heavy butt cap and lanyard ring. Plain lock stamped with 'DN'. Swan necked cock.
Markings: Belgian former definitive and provisional proof marks on barrel.
Loading method: muzzle loading
Ignition system: flintlock
Place and date of origin: Great Britain [c.1750 - 1860s]

Event/Place: Taranaki Campaign
Event date: Patea Volunteers [1860s].
Stated to have come from Patea and as having been issued to volunteers during the New Zealand Wars.
