Description
This drawing is part of a set which is missing the plan view, making the remaining drawings difficult to interpret. The foundation plan reveals a cruciform shape. Based on similar factories by Gillman, we can speculate that the boiler and engine room is in the “left” wing of the cross (indicated by the break in the foundation stub walls to allow the boiler to be brought in and out), with the main part of the factory designed for a linear process flow: receiving – making – curing – despatch.
