Proposed Creamery [at Hunga Hunga] for the Thames Valley Co-op. Dairying Co., Ltd. Drawing No.1. Ground Plan.

Maker
Edgar Ernest Gillman
Production date
25 Jun 1913
Description
The floor plan of this 1913 creamery at Hunga Hunga shows a typical Gillman layout. The processing flow is linear, from the covered receiving stage near the bottom, through to despatch at the top of the drawing, with the coal-fired engine located off to one side. The semi-detached stucture at the bottom allows for any "overflow" of raw milk supplies to be stored safely during peak periods without interfering with efficient processing, and the roof between the the two structures protects creamery staff while milk is transferred to the creamery proper.
