Description
The number "1510" denotes this wooden roller butter press was used in the Frankton butter factory. Before automation machinery came along, these wooden butter rollers were used in butter factories throughout New Zealand. They worked by resting the side handles of the roller onto the top side edges of the butter box and were rolled along the box top edges just enough distance away from the level of the butter in the box to imprint the brand of butter and factory number. This roller imprinted "1510 ANCHOR 1510".
