Turkish Crimea Medal – Captain Hamilton
Turkish Crimea Medal, a campaign medal issued by Sultan Abdülmecid I of the Ottoman Empire to allied military personnel involved in the Crimean War of 1854–56. This medal was awarded to Captain John Hamilton, 1855. Although he was a British soldier, he received a Sardianian medal with the imprint 'La Crimea 1855'. A ship bringing part of the consignment of medals to Britain was wrecked and the problem was resolved by issuing Sardianian and French strikings to British troops.
