"Gay Fraundorfer works in traditional mediums of oil and watercolour and also in contemporary mixed media.
She grew up on Steward Island, and her love of that natural environment is often reflected in her work.
Her main work, however, centres on the Waikato, rural and farm landscapes, the river and bridges, gardens and recently, suburban landscapes in Hamilton.
Her imitital training was an Arts and Crafts Specialist teacher at Dunedin Teachers' College.
She has exhibited widely with major exhibitions being mmounted in Hamilton and Auckland from 1985 on.
Whe has been an award winner in art competitions and a finalist in ones which include The Norsewear Art Award (2001) and the National Art Award (2001).
Her paintings are in private collections, the Waikato Museum (Hamilton) and the James Wallace Collection (Auckland).
