Biography
William Sutton is a regionalist painter who lives in Canterbury. He is one of New Zealand's foremost landscape painters, who has devoted his life to recording the landscapes of the Canterbury region.
Patrick Hutchings said of Suttons's work in 1977 "The pictures promise realism, but they give us rhetoric: they seem to offer topography, but give us emotional statements."
