Fishing hook

Maker
Unknown Maker
Description
Fish hook with mother of pearl lure, tortoise-shell hook and beaded decorations. Stated to have been found near Whitianga. Mother of pearl and tortoise-shell suggests that it originated in the Pacific Islands and the beads would indicate that it does not date any earlier than the missionary era.
