Description
This stylish blue turquoise silk vest and cape set would fit a girl aged about 10 years old. It is dated mid 19th century. The style of the vest has a high round neckline and has a gathered ruffle and brade around the neck. It has an opening at the front wiith ten covered buttons (three missing) but fastens with hooks and eyes. The bodice has a fitted shape with two darts in the lower front on each side and a shaped diamond or horse shoe back. It is decorated with ruffles in a 'V" shape in the front. There are no sleeves and set-in type armholes with piped edges.

The 'collar' style cape has a gathered rufflle round shape neck. It fastens at the front with 2 hooks and eyes - covered buttons. A large ornamental bow is at the back. The long points of the collar front and edges are deccorated with ruffles.
