Belonged to David Gardiner who was apparently the first saddler in Hamilton. His shop was in Grey St, Hamilton East. He started business here in 1871 and advertised in 1st issue of Waikato Times. David Gardiner was a member of the first Hamilton Borough Council elected in 1878.
