Description
Koru flag designed by Austrian artist, architect and environmentalist Friedensreich Hundertwasser. Hundertwasser gifted the flag to New Zealand in 1983 in appreciation of gaining New Zealand citizenship. The flag is "a proposal for a second flag for New Zealand which represents an unmistakable identity that combines New Zealand's age old heritage of nature and the heritage of Maori history with the growing future of a new nation" (Faye Tohbyn, 1983).
