Description
Mourning Brooch with triple bows made completely from human hair. The tubular bow ribbon and the three balloon tassels below have a mesh or net like appearance. At the centre of the bow is a small rosesette. Beneath the bows a three very fine chains with each one connecting to a little balloon shaped pouch. On the reverse side is a bar pin attachment.
Style referred as "balloon" jewellery-refers to method of manufacture-long strands of hair plaited and twisted over a tubular base; steamed; slid off the mould & secured in circular shapes by gold bands.
