Description
Jigsaw puzzle titled 'Building the Ivory Castle'. This puzzle was one of four produced by D & W Gibbs as part of a 1930s promotion for the product Gibbs Dentifrice. During the 1920s and 1930s, D & W Gibbs established a scheme to promote dental health awareness among children called the 'Ivory Castle League'. Promotional material such as these jigsaws included illustrations showing Ivory Towers or Castles (teeth) being protected from the wicked Giant Decay by the valiant Gibbs defenders.
At the bottom of this puzzle, it reads: "Your Teeth Are Ivory Castles – defend them with Gibbs Dentifrice".
