Goat with rider figurine

Description
The Goat with rider figurine is in the style of Meissen porcelain. The goat and rider are both bespectacled. The man is wearing a tricorne hat.

There are many figurines of this motif. Some made by Meissen, Sitzendorf and others. One version of the figurine is entitled “The Taylor on the Billy Goat”, another is “ Count Bruhl’s Taylor”.

An historical interpretation of the myth is of the Bokkenrijders or buckriders who held a reputation like Robin Hood and his gang. It originated in the Belgian province of Limburg.
