Snider- Enfield Carbine Mk111 Rifle

Snider Cavalry Carbine Mk111, .577 inch calibre. Mk111 action, flat-faced hammer. Brass fittings (as the Mk111 was not made out of P1861 cavalry carbine, but the first of the purpose made sniders. The cleaning rod under the barrel was done away with, replaced with a two piece cleaning rod which was housed in the butt).

Maker Royal Enfield Arms Factory, lock marked '1869 / ENFIELD'.
Top of Shoe '111' (Mk111 Action).
Top of Shoe 'N (Broad Arrow) Z /87' (issued in N.Z. 1887). Military Ordinance issue and acceptance marks on barrel and action.
Loading method: breech loading.
Usage: Military.
