Pennant – 4th Light A.F.V. Regiment (Waikato Mounted Rifles)

Pennant of the 4th Light A.F.V. (Armoured Fighting Vehicles) Regiment (W.M.R) Waikato Mounted Rifles. In November 1941 it was decided that the Mounted Rifles were to be reconstituted as armoured units and organised along the lines of a divisional cavalry unit. They were redesignated as ‘Light Armoured Fighting Vehicle Regiments’. The Waikato Mounted Rifles thus became the 4th Light Armoured Fighting Vehicle regiment, based at Ngaruawahia Camp near Hamilton.

The regimental motto 'Libertas Solum et Natate' means 'Liberty and Homeland.'
