Description
Artist Statement:
"When we use the word trinkets, it is generally used in a negative way that demeans the small objects and bits and pieces that accumulate in our lives. However these small objects are not unimportant. We keep them because they are needed, or remind us of times, places and people. In making these containers I am celebrating these collections. That precious stone found on a beach on holiday, those buttons for that special piece of clothing, the funny valve thing that you pump up a soccer ball with, the extra key for the garden shed....these all need to be kept somewhere special.
The diversity of clays and glazes I have enjoyed using to make these trinket boxes and the many shapes, lids, handles and feet are a reflection of what they can potentially contain."
