Description
Taxidermy of a long-tailed bat / pekapeka-tou-roa (Chalinolobus tuberculatus). The winged mammal is one of only two native land mammals in New Zealand. It is a prominent member of the urban wildlife population, being a vulnerable species to extinction and possessing a huge ecological role. Hamilton is one of a handful of cities to have this animal roosting within city boundaries, and this is because of the unique landscape consisting of gullies and the river.
