Description
Detail of decorative work around porch (1:24 scale) and Tobin ventilator(1:12 scale). The location of this church is not known, but the builder of these 1909 extensions was F W Graves. The extension adds a new entrance lobby at the front and a service area at the rear. This detail view of the porch makes the timber construction — rusticated weatherboard — obvious. The mouldings, like the windows, have been chosen from a catalogue to ensure consistency as well as avoiding any possibility of error. Here too is the detail of the Tobin’s Tube ventilators, showing how the air is taken from outside below floor level, with a control valve on the inside at eye level to allow the cold air to be cut off.
