[Church] Drawing No.1.

Maker
Edgar Ernest Gillman
Production date
29 Sep 1909
Description
Ground Plan showing planned additions and alterations. The location of this church is not known, but the builder of these 1909 extensions was F W Graves. The extension adds a new entrance lobby at the front and a service area at the rear, together with six “Tobin’s Tube” ventilators along the side walls. These rather simple devices draw air from ground level outside and release it into the building just above head level, presumably utilising the “hot air rises” principle. There is no other evidence of these being used by Gillman, so perhaps they were not as successful as he had hoped. Some internal partitions are shown on the drawing as “to be removed”.
