The New Zealand Co-op. Dairy Coy Ltd. Proposed Cheese Factory at Ngatea. Sheet No. 4

Maker
Edgar Ernest Gillman
Production date
Feb 1938
Description
Drawings show south, north, east and west elevations. These views of the Ngatea cheese factory (1938) show a wooden building, well ventilated with 13 “torpedo” ventilators and lit by skylights over the factory area. There are no skylights over the west (left) wing of the building, suggesting this section probably housed the Curing Room. The Receiving Stage was probably at the bottom of the drawing, indicated by the driveway slab and protective canopy. Like other factories of this period, the boiler/ engine room is completely enclosed with non-flammable corrugated iron.
