This detailed cross-section of a cheese factory shows clearly how the building is designed for functional convenience. The floor slopes for easy drainage, and cement plaster extends up the walls to allow easy cleaning. The base is concrete, the upper walls consist of simple tongue-and-groove planking and the roof is of corrugated iron. The roof framing uses a combination of struts and tie-rods to achieve a high level of rigidity.
