Description
Pa. Pukete Pa was a fortified settlement occupied by Ngati Koura. The occupants ran a flax mill and traded with Europeans who travelled the river. During the Land Wars and Raupatu, Ngati Koura fled their settlement. In 1867 the Pa site became a surveying reference point for the early maps of Hamilton.
