Description
Noxious. Koi carp is an ornamental variety of the common carp native to Asia and Europe. It was introduced to New Zealand accidentally in the 1960s and is nationally classified as a noxious species. Koi feed like vacuum cleaners, sucking up everything off the river bed and blowing out what they don’t want. This action dislodges plants and makes the water turbid.
