The New Zealand Young Men’s Christian Association (YMCA) gave this wallet to soldiers for Christmas. A kiwi and silver fern icon is printed on the cover, with the words: ‘In the Field, France, Xmas 1917’. The wallet contained a small booklet and a notepad. The booklet inside includes an inspirational message from commander of the New Zealand Division Major-General A.H. Russell, a map of New Zealand, and photographs of iconic locations such as the Wanganui River and Oriental Bay, Wellington.
