Description
Black and white photographic print postcard, likely taken at Hangatiki. Depicts a locomotive manufactured by Andrew Barclay Sons and Company, built for the Northern Timber Co (Taupiri Sawmilling) of Taupiri. The locomotive was reputedly named 'Jeanie' and began work in 1909.
The locomotive was on-sold to the Park Lamb Timber Co for use at their sawmill tramway at Hangatiki in 1918. It was retired by 1930, and it was reported as being derelict at Hangatiki up until the early 1950s.
