Description
This work is from a series by the artist that use a custom modified version of the infamous PR24 Riot Baton. The baton was first introduced by the New Zealand Police via the Red and Blue Squads during the 1981 Springbok Rugby Tour. This work also makes reference to the baton's appearance in the 1980's historic police rape trials.
Emil McAvoy is an artist and writer based in Auckland and has a Master of Fine Arts from Elam School of Fine Arts, University of Auckland. His work is interdisciplinary and project based, and manifests in a range of media, strategies and collaborations.
