In 1992, artists around New Zealand were asked to produce art works for the centennary celebrations of Suffrage Year in 1993. Henry's installation comprises pieces that signifiers of liberties once denied women on the basis of gender.

Elaine Henry is a Hamilton artist that discovered her artistic inclinations through various courses and workshops including a four year correspondence illustrating course and summer schools with well known NZ artists over several years including Louise Henderson, Jan Nigro, Kees Hos, Doris Lusk and Paul Van den Bergh.
