Description
The figures in this painting are heavy solid monumental forms and along with the poultry are painted in stylised cubist manner typical of many paintings of the period.

Vida Steinert (1906-) was born in Hamilton and studied painting at Elam School of Fine Arts under John Weeks. Weeks had an enormous influenece on many artists in New Zealand and was largely responsible for the cubist abstraction style that was employed by a number of regionalist painters.
