Both male mythological figures. In Maaori mythology, Tawhirimatea is the god of weather, including thunder and lightning, wind, clouds and storms. He is a son of Papatuanuku (earth mother) and Ranginui (sky father). Here Tawhirimatea is pulling part of Tane Mahuta (the tree).
