Description
Hyperreal Toolbox for the Reinvention of a Transglobal Empire in a Parallel Universe

These re-visioned beer crates would appear to be every beer drinker’s fantasy. David Stewart’s 2002 award winning entry in the Waikato Contemporary Art awards was a controversial choice for first prize. An installation consisting of 6 wooden beer crates and bottles, filled with home - brewed beer was described by the judge Zara Stanhope as ‘an intelligent and playful proposal that confronts various histories and politics of labour, the nature of production and the operation of systems of classification and signification with pleasure as well as critical comment.’
