Description
In 1848 von Tempsky was still in Central America. He did not reach San Francisco until the summer of 1850. This view could possibly be von Tempsky's rendition of a pre-gold rush San Francisco painted from the accounts of others (unlikely because of precise date given). There is also the possibility that von Tempsky did in fact visit San Francisco in 1848 from Central America or that this is some other Central American Coastal town named San Francisco.
