Savi mask

Description
Sepik River masks with the protruding tongue are created to be worn or owned by the highest ranking orator. They are stored in the clan 'Haus Tambarans' and do not require wearing to be efficacious in repelling oppositional clans. Many Savi masks will adorn the 'haus' and only the paramount orator has the authority to say how and when they are to be used. Hand crafted.

The tongues on Savi masks are thought to be depictions of the carver/ maker.
