Seed pod

Description
In 1974 Waikato Museum acquired a selection of items, including this seed pod, from Graham Jackson. Jackson was a New Zealand anthropologist who spent time living with and researching the Kopon and the Kalam people of the Lower Kaironk Valley in Papua New Guinea.

Jackson fieldnotes: A small seed pod with one end broken off. Name of tree = walwo; seed = magon. Blown as a whistle (for fun). Manufacture unknown, probably anybody. These are used by children. May also be used to imitate birds.
