Coolie hat

Maker
Unknown Maker
Description
A woven hat with a cylindrical central crown, flat at the top. The woven pattern differs at the top of the crown, where the natural fibres are in a horizontal formation. This section is lighter in colour. A square of newspaper is adhered to the centre on the inside of the hat and, in colour, pictures a girl collecting a crop harvest. The brim of the hat curves down to form a vertical lip or wall.
