Description
These bronze war service plaques, or 'dead man's pennies' as they became known, were given to families of the deceased by the British war office. This plaque, one of over 1.35 million distributed by the war office, was for Rifleman W.R. Friar.

Large bronze circular medallion or plaque:"HE DIED FOR FREEDOM AND HONOUR" "WILLIAM ROBERT FRIAR"
Memorial plaques were awarded to the next of kin of those who had lost their lives whilst in active service.
