Carving, killing scene

Maker
Wilson Toto
Description
Killing scene. The victim has been speared with two spears and another man is about to despatch him with a fighting shield the gauaata.

A reflection of head-hunting practised, although this was more widespread in N.W., Bougainville area. Victims used as sacrifices. Although conservative socially, Santa Catalina is innovative in its art and is the centre of "new" art trade with Santa Ana, Tawaroga and Gheta (mainland).
