 Description
Simple bowl (apira) made out of rongo wood and stained black. It has projecting lugs on either end, which serve as handles. The seller of the bowl was reportedly one of last tattooed women left in the village on Santa Ana, where the bowl was acquired by Hirini Moko Mead in 1973. It is believed to have been made approximately in the 1920s, by a carver named Vitou.
