This painting is from a series by Judd begun in 2005 with an exhibition called ‘Strangers Again’ which was exhibited at the McPherson Gallery, Auckland. Judd's works celebrate painting as a sculptural medium. His work often looks closer at the figure within a beautifully contrasting tonal or colour field. It's not unusual to see aeroplanes or boats in his accumulation of motifs. They are literally vehicles for the artist's story.
Paul Judd is a Hamilton based artist and a graduate of Wintec, Hamilton. He has a Masters in Fine Arts from Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology, Melbourne.
