Girl's Victorian Cape

Production date
Circa 1880-1890
Description
A beautiful Victorian period half length black cape. It is heavily beaded with black jet glass beads of various shapes. The jet bead decoration is stitched in a pattern all over the cape and also on small bows on the collar. This cape would have been seen worn going out on social occasions.

The cape style has a high round shape (Peter Pan type) collar. This is decorated with a black satin ribbon stitched into bows both at the back and front, with a black glass bead "jewel" in the centre of the bows. The cape is made from fine black silk velvet and is circular in shape. It fastens at the front neck edge with hooks and eyes and is lined with silk. It is a luxurious elegant cape.
