School pinafore apron

Description
This white fine lawn, linen fabric apron was used at the Diocesan School to keep chalk off a young girl's clothes when she was using the blackboard.

The apron is styled like a pinafore. The bodice and skirt in the front are joined to a bodice and skirt at the back by four ties at the side. Two ties front and two ties at the back. The sides and neck edges are trimmed with red bias binding. It probably would have been starched when worn.
